Samsung Galaxy S Advance out on Monday
26 April 2012
Samsung's latest dual-core Android phone is a media machine
We've just heard that the Samsung Galaxy S Advance, a four-inch Android phone packing a dual-core processor, will be available in the UK from 30 April.
You might be confused by the sheer number of Galaxy smartphones that are emerging, and we wouldn't blame you – there's around 20 different models listed on the Samsung website right now, including the Galaxy Y, Galaxy Y Pro, Galaxy Pro, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Ace Plus...it's enough to make your cerebral cortex explode.
The Galaxy S Advance is well worth a look, however. The dual-core 1GHz processor should capably handle the latest apps and games, backed up by 768MB of RAM, while films should look crisp and colourful on the four-inch Super AMOLED display (featuring a 480x800-pixel resolution). You can carry plenty of movies and music around thanks to the 8/16GB of built-in storage, expandable via the microSD slot.
It'll ship with Android Gingerbread, with Samsung's usual TouchWiz overlay. So far there are no concrete plans for an Ice Cream Sandwich update, but we wouldn't rule it out as the phone should certainly handle it. Camera fans get a five-megapixel camera featuring auto-focus and an LED flash, and you can Skype chat with the 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
We'll bring you a full review of the Samsung Galaxy S Advance very soon, but don't forget that Samsung's big hitter, the Galaxy S III, is launching a week today. As well as bringing you full coverage of the launch here on Mobile Choice, we'll be live tweeting the event – so follow us now on Twitter if you don't want to be left out!
