Quad-core chip confirmed for Samsung Galaxy S III

Samsung confirm the Galaxy S III will be the first to feature its new Exynos quad-core processor
The eagerly-awaited Samsung Galaxy S III will showcase the company's own quad-core Exynos chipset, enabling the device to run faster and with better energy consumption than current handsets.
The new Exynos 4412 will run at speeds of up to 1.5GHz and figures suggest it'll be up to 26% faster than current processors.Being a single-chip solution should also mean users seeing increased battery life.
In an interview with the Korea Times, a 'high-ranking Samsung executive' told the publication that the company has a 'stronger intent to lower its dependence on Qualcomm chips, although they still have a cross-licensing deal until 2024.The unnamed executive added that he believes the San Diego-based Qualcomm 'is gradually losing its edge'.
Samsung topped the list of smartphone sellers in 2011 and whenever it comes,the promise of a lightning-fast chipset and improved battery performance means the Galaxy S III could be a no-brainer when choosing your next handset.
