Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition hit UK shelves
10 April 2012
Available from Carphone Warehouse from £299.99
We reviewed the Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition very favourably, which launched alongside the Xoom 2 earlier this year. If you want one, you can now buy either model, as they have just launched in the UK.
Both models are available at Carphone Warehouse, the key difference between the two being the size. The Xoom 2 packs a 10.1-inch widescreen HD display, while the smaller Media Edition comes in at just 8.2 inches. Both versions pack a dual-core 1.2GHz processor as well as scratch resistant screens and Android 3.2 Honeycomb (no Ice Cream Sandwich as yet).
The differences between the original Xoom and the Xoom 2 are fairly subtle. The new model is lighter then the original and with a slight change of design that makes the tablet easier to hold. That display is also said to be noticeably brighter too. The Media Edition is smaller, with a reworked screen complete with 178-degree viewing angle, designed for entertainment and sharing, should you be feeling generous.
If you fancy either device, the prices are £299.99 for the Xoom 2 Media Edition Wi-Fi edition, jumping to £399.99 for added 3G. The Motorola Xoom 2 Wi-Fi is yours for £349.99, with the 3G model costing £449.99.
